General information Maastricht University
Maastricht University (UM) is known in the Netherlands and abroad for its unique education system: problem-based learning (PGO). UM also distinguishes itself by its strong international orientation. An increasing number of students from all over the Netherlands as well as from abroad opts for the Maastricht system. UM is the youngest university of the Netherlands and growing fast. It currently has approximately 18,000 students and 4,400 employees. Education and research at UM are mainly organised on the basis of faculties and schools. More information on UM can be found on the internetsite www.maastrichtuniversity.nl.
Reason for the Tender Procedure Maastricht University as the lead-partner in the ETpathfinder project will host a facility aimed at the development and tests of extremely sensitive optical interferometers like those used in gravitational wave detectors. The primary goal is to improve the sensitivity to the level required by future generations of gravitational wave detectors. ETpathfinder will be an international center for research into high-precision measurement techniques, vibration isolation, measurement and control software, cryogenics and (quantum) optics in the context of next-generation gravitational-wave infrastructures.
The facility will include an ultra-high vacuum vessel to be installed in a large cleanroom at Maastricht University which provides the environment for the future R&D activities. The ultra-high vacuum vessel, connected with large bellows, is intended to achieve an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV).
A more detailed description of the ETpathfinder project can be found in: https://www.etpathfinder.eu/.
Description of the Contract The tender is intended for the procurement of bellow assemblies for the ETPathfinder R&D facility. The order includes three types of bellows: • 9 Beamline bellows; • 20 Foot bellows; • 2 Triple-valve bellows.
Conceptual designs for each of the assemblies are available but the offerer can adapt the dimensions of the parts that do not interface directly to the ETpathfinder vacuum system. The requirements for these bellows in terms of manufacturing procedures, UHV compatibility, leak tightness and required dimensions are described in this tender.
Purpose and intended result of the Tender Procedure The purpose of this Tender Procedure is an European Public Tender to enter into an Agreement with one (1) party .
