Description of EBN
Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) is a company in which the shares are one hundred per cent owned by the Dutch State and are managed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK).
EBN uses its knowledge and experience in the area of the subsurface, the oil and gas sector and long-term, capital-intensive projects for a reliable and future-proof supply of energy. EBN wants to make a constructive contribution to the acceleration of the energy transition. Under the heading 'Energising the transition' EBN is now focusing on: "the sustainable and safe development of natural gas and oil reserves in the Netherlands, safe and sustainable reuse and decommissioning of disused infrastructure, and the use of sustainable forms of energy from the subsurface such as geothermal energy".
 
EBN aims to have a leading role in realizing the energy transition and ensuring that the energy demand of the Netherlands can be met in a sustainable, stable and affordable way. Part of this role is carrying out activities for the exploration of the subsurface to identify possibilities to develop geothermal projects.
 
Description of the RFQ
EBN has been tasked by EZK to map the subsurface in areas where there is sparse existing seismic data coverage, in order to better understand the potential for geothermal energy and accelerate development of geothermal energy. The scope of the tendering procedure consists of acquisition of seismic data onshore in the Netherlands.
