GVB plans to acquire new North Sea Canal ferry boats, to replace the current five North Sea Canal ferry boats. The purchasing plan entails (detailing of) the design, construction and supply based on the requirements specification "Plug-in electric North Sea Canal ferry boat". The North Sea Canal ferry boat is a chined steel vessel equipped for slow transit traffic (including pedestrians, cyclists, mopeds, agricultural vehicles) and rapid transit traffic (car and freight traffic).
Propulsion is achieved by means of rudder propellers. Each rudder propeller is driven by an electric motor. The main energy supply is a battery pack on the boat that will be charged on landing on one side of the North Sea Canal. At the same time, to ensure redundancy, two generators will be installed that can supply the total power requirement if electric charging is not possible. The ferry boat is to be equipped with a ramp fore and aft. The ferry boat will service the 24-hour connections at Zaandam, Buitenhuizen and Velsen. In addition, the scope of the contract covers maintenance and supply of strategic spare parts as detailed in the tender documents.
Attention: An informative meeting will be organised, on Wednesday 21 August, in Amsterdam. GVB will provide information about the tender and, to provide additional insight, an IJ ferry will be presented. At the latest 14 August the tenderers must indicate via the messages module in Negometrix (by using the contact-link here above) how many of their people (maximum of 2) wish to be present at that meeting. Considering the possible reduced presence of employees at the time of the planned publication of the contract notice, this prior information notice provides an opportunity to take note of the tender and the informative meeting date. Option: An option for supplying extra North Sea Canal ferry boats will be included in the agreement to be concluded. If a supplementary requirement results (this depends among other things on sustained passenger growth, municipal decisions relating to alternatives and urban development), GVB can decide to commission up to two extra North Sea Canal ferry boats, applying the conditions given in the already concluded agreement for the initial North Sea Canal ferry boats. GVB reserves the right to award contract(s) for this option separately to one or more other parties. In view of the long lifespan of the ferry boats, the long delivery times, the one-off costs and the desired standardisation for maintenance, the option for extension will apply for a period of 6 years after signing the agreement.
Language: The language in which this tender procedure will be conducted is Dutch. Unless stated otherwise or specified otherwise in writing by GVB in the ongoing tender procedure, all correspondence with GVB and all documents that the Tenderers submit to GVB must be provided in Dutch. The tender guide and the Requirement Specification will also be provided to the Tenderers in English. Please note that the Dutch version of these tender documents will always take precedence and the Tenderers cannot derive any rights from the English versions provided. Tenderers' authorised managing staff charged with the performance of the contract who liaise with GVB must have both a spoken and a written command of the Dutch language.
Information: After the publication of the contract notice, Tenderers can request details about the tender content via the question and answers module in Negometrix.
