University Medical Center Groningen
The University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) is one of the largest hospitals in the Netherlands. It is also the largest employer in the north of the Netherlands. The UMCG has more than 12,000 staff, who work in patient care and leading academic research, with a focus on healthy and active ageing. In the fields of teaching and research, the UMCG works closely with the University of Groningen. Each year, approximately 3,400 students train as doctors, dentists or movement scientists. Patients attend the UMCG for highly specialized diagnosis, examination or treatment. All patients in the north of the Netherlands who have complicated or unusual disorders are eventually referred to the UMCG. High-quality care is always based on the latest insights, and is provided by the best doctors and nurses. Together with support staff, in their day-to-day work they focus on achieving a single, shared goal: building the future of health.
Introduction The UMCG Particle Therapy Research Center (PARTREC) is a recently established dedicated research facility for radiation physics and biology research and technology development for the further improvement of particle therapy of cancer. The PARTREC research programme is tightly connected with the clinical research at the UMCG Groningen Proton Therapy Center (GPTC). PARTREC operates the large superconducting cyclotron AGOR, mainly for experimental research in radiation physics and biology. The accelerator is also used for research in other domains of science and for radiation hardness testing for science and industry. To expand its research capabilities and capacity PARTREC is currently developing a new research infrastructure for image guided preclinical radiation biology research. For this infrastructure a new beam line will be constructed that allows the particle beams to be shaped according to the needs of the various experiments. For this beam line a number of quadrupole magnets and a scan magnet are needed that are the subject of the current tender procedure.
Agreement There is a one-time delivery and purchase of eight (8) quadrupole magnets and a scanmagnet. The purchase, delivery, placement, installation and commissioning are recorded in a purchase agreement. There is a warranty period of at least one (1) year.
2012 Public Procurement Act This invitation to tender is subject to the 2012 Public Procurement Act (Aanbestedingswet 2012), which was amended with effect from 1 July 2016.
