Information

Description:
TenneT is the owner of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) facilities in the Netherlands and major parts of Germany. This requires, due to corporate social responsibility, continuous investments in eco-friendly development projects to reduce the negative ecological externalities of such facilities. Currently, manu-facturers of switchgear are looking into more eco-friendly alternatives for SF6, but mostly at a 145 kV voltage rating. Looking at the TenneT business, the development of equipment for the 420 kV level is of high interest. Because e.g. of the green energy transition more and more 420 kV substations need to be built and/or extended. In front of this background, it is expected that in the next ten years in Germany approximately 20 to 40 and in the Netherlands 10 additional H-GIS bays will be installed.
TenneT intends to enter into an Innovation Partnership, pursuant to § 119 Sec. 7, GWB, to assign the development and realisation of SF6-free 420 kV H-GIS. Technical details on the assignment can be found in Annex C01 - Requirements Document.
The Innovation Partnership foresees three phases:
1. Competition Phase
2. Research & Development (R&D) Phase
3. Commercial Phase
